Where to Ski in Estonia & in Tallinn

Tuhamägi – Kiviõli Seikluskeskus

Tuhamagi is just an hour and a half drive from Tallinn, and it's got slopes for all skill levels and lengths.

People say it's the go-to spot in Estonia if you're learning to ski or snowboard!

If you don't have your own gear, you can rent it for 23€ (3 hours) or 27€ for the whole day. They also offer skiing lessons for 45€ per hour. Hill Cafe and Tuhamäe hostel will be there to support you in case you’re tired and/or starving.

Just a heads up, though—weekends can get pretty crowded, so be prepared for some long waits in line.

Munakas – Small Munamägi

Small Munamägi is the only resort in Estonia with chairlifts (!!)

A very cool thing is that, on Fridays, you can have some night skiing, as the slopes are open until 11PM.

The slope is rather small and short, but combined with Kuutsemäe may be a good way to spend a weekend (the ticket is valid in both!). If you are planning to spend some time with friends or family, renting a cabin (up to 7 persons) with a sauna and fireplace will definitely make the whole experience better. It costs around 180€/night!

Find more info here.

Kuutsemäe

One of the largest hills with very good infrastructure. A bit longer drive from Tallinn (2h and 40min), so not recommended to go there just for one day.

There is a SPA there as well, so you might consider spending the weekend or using the location for special occasions! Who doesn’t want to get a sauna at the end of the day?

A 3-hour ticket costs 29€ and you can rent equipment for 22€ for 3 hours, if you do not have it already.

Also here ski school is available and of course you can find a spot to grab a warm cup of coffee!

Valgehobusemägi

Valgehobusemägi is a nice choice if you're not up for a long trip from Tallinn (just an hour drive). While the hill is on the smaller side, it's still a good spot for a few hours of fun.

They've got snow tubing for kids, making it perfect for beginners with its gently sloping and easy-to-navigate hill. The view from the top is so pretty—endless forests as far as the eye can see. The best part? It's not as jam-packed as Tuhamägi, so you'll avoid long waits in lines.

If you don't have your gear you can rent it there for 20€ for 3 hours.

Find more info here.

Don’t want to go too far?

If you're not feeling like driving or don't have a ride, there are some cool options for skiing and snowboarding in Tallinn (I mean, with all the snow we have, it would  be a shame not to have some slopes in our city).

Nõmme Lumepark

Nõmme Lumepark is a standout spot, easily spotted from a distance thanks to its famous Ski Jumping track. While the hill isn't the tallest, it's a winner because you can hop on a public bus (number 36 from the city centre) to get there. Weekends might be a bit crowded, so plan accordingly.

They offer some solid beginner courses too! It’s indeed the perfect spot to learn.

Vimka – Viimsi Mäepark

Vimka – Viimsi Mäepark is another gem, a smaller hill but with a great vibe. It's gaining popularity thanks to its location, good facilities, and all-around fun atmosphere. You can catch a ride on public transport (bus number 1A) from Tallinn city centre. Ideal for a date or last-minute afternoons with friends!
